Areas of Treatment Your Therapist at Lux Counseling Can Walk With You Through

Anxiety

Maybe you experience unwanted thoughts about worst case scenarios or are overwhelmed with worries distracting you from your actual life. Racing thoughts, overthinking, avoiding anxiety provoking situations, trouble focusing or sleeping and feeling self-doubt are some of the symptoms of anxiety we work with. Our therapists can work with you to address the root of where your anxieties come from and equip you with the tools to feel confident in your life again.

Trauma

Some symptoms of trauma trigger the feelings of unworthiness, numbness, mistrust of others, change in appetite or difficulty sleeping. Sometimes disturbing or sad memories from the past come up and can seem impossible to shake. Our therapists at Lux Counseling are incredibly honored to walk with our clients through their unique healing journey.  We believe that healing, while difficult, is absolutely possible.

Postpartum and Perinatal Anxiety

Approximately 6% of pregnant women and 16% of postpartum women struggle through postpartum anxiety. So many times perinatal or postpartum anxiety goes undiagnosed. The therapists at Lux Counseling believe that by caring for mothers, we are helping them care for their families as well. Pregnancy and postpartum is such a precious and life changing time. The incredible gift and responsibility of having a new baby to care for and love, on top of the physical and hormonal changes happening to mom, can make a postpartum woman feel unlike herself and out of control, anxious or sad. She may feel wrong for feeling how she does. If this sounds familiar to you, we would love to work with you. Our therapists at Lux Counseling truly cherish the privilege of getting to walk alongside our pregnant and postpartum moms. We are here to offer you nurturing support in this precious and intense season you are in.

Life Transitions

Having your life be upended by either a planned or unplanned transition is enough to impact even the most regulated person. We love partnering with our clients and helping walk through and find meaning in a life transition.  Whether the transition is a break up, new marriage, having a baby, starting a new job, college semester, moving or something else; having some built in support from a therapist can make a huge difference when big changes are unfolding.

Relationship Struggles

Whether it is a friendship, family member, coworker, or a romantic relationship; it is no secret that relationships impact our mental and emotional well being. Having an unbiased therapist to partner with while navigating various relationship challenges can foster clarity and peace. Healthy community is so important to a person’s overall emotional well being. Our therapists see the great importance in the work we do walking with our clients through the joys and difficulties of creating and maintaining healthy relationships within their communities.

Emotional Regulation

Noticing unpredictable emotions such as sadness, irritability, or anger can be hard to understand. Maybe you feel like you need to constantly distract yourself out of a fear of what sitting with your emotions could bring up. Our therapists offer a secure environment for clients to explore and cultivate a deep self-awareness of their emotional selves. We work to help you achieve greater contentment, stress management techniques, and a strong skill set to regulate emotionally. We prioritize empowering our clients to enhance their self-esteem, fostering belief in their ability to thrive amidst the internal and external stressors in their lives.

Faith Based Counseling

All of our therapists at Lux Counseling are Catholic, and our personal relationships with God are important to us. This sometimes brings comfort to clients who are looking to work with someone with shared faith. We offer a safe landing place for our clients to express both the joys and struggles that can come with their spiritual life, in a nonjudgemental and professional setting. If you ever want to incorporate your personal faith into sessions, our therapists are happy to do so, upon request. We honor if a client prefers not to incorporate faith into sessions as well.
