Interested in working with Sarah?

Meet Sarah, her favorite part of being a therapist is pulling the gold out of someone. She has a special way of helping you navigate pain with compassion, and draw out your innate goodness, as you develop tools that can reshape how you live. Her background as a collegiate soccer coach has given her firsthand insight and passion for the importance of being well in mind, body, and soul—and how that wholeness impacts every endeavor you pursue.

Strengths-Based Therapeutic Approach: Sarah knows that starting therapy can feel overwhelming. She’ll be the first to tell you that you don’t have to know exactly what to say or where to start. You can show up and say, “I don’t know.” That’s enough. She’ll meet you right there and naturally weave in therapeutic techniques, like CBT and SBT, taking a practical and strengths based approach, that can make a difference in your ability to handle what life has thrown at you.

A Glimpse into Her World: Outside the therapy room you can find Sarah, her husband, and their sweet daughters painting their new house, see Sarah playing in an adult soccer league or hanging in the backyard with their kids.

Interested in working with Lizzy?

How We Started! I am Lux’s founder and one of our Catholic therapists. Lux’s story starts 13 years ago during a six month mission trip to a Zambian orphanage, where I saw the deep impact of untreated trauma in young women. Witnessing how a lack of love and safety shaped the lens with which these women saw themselves and the world around them, left a lasting impression on me. Seeing this pain up close sparked a huge desire in me to learn what environments allow healing to propel someone to rediscover joy and safety, even after immense hardship.

On a Mission: So I set out to learn the skills of therapy through my studies in my undergraduate degree in Psychology at Benedictine College and my Masters of Science in Counseling at Emporia State University. In my studies and mentorship, as well as in my own experiences as a client in therapy myself, I have witnessed over and over how transformative it can be to have someone sit with you, unhurried, to take the time to learn your unique patterns and ways of processing, integrating care that benefits your mind, body, and soul. It changed my life to invest in befriending and reworking my own thoughts and patterns, bringing my wounds to the light, and gaining practical tools to navigate life’s stressors. While I was the first therapist at Lux, I quickly recognized the need for faith-filled therapists in my community. Witnessing this led me to expand my team with trustworthy, diversely skilled, Catholic professionals. We are passionate about providing care that mirrors each of our clients' inherent dignity and worth. Feeling truly cared for and walked alongside is what I hope you get to encounter here at Lux.

Value Based Therapeutic Approach: In sessions, I integrate multiple modalities from a value focused lens, including techniques from REBT, IFS, ACT and IB - CBT. For my team, I have to say how incredibly proud I am of all of the ways these ladies creatively show up for their clients, with integrity and care, each through their own unique therapeutic style and personality. Our team is dedicated to ongoing professional growth, continually learning from the best in our field with continued education and mentorship.
Some of our most recent professional growth has included a mix of somatic, nervous system regulation training, a book on perfectionism, continued perinatal mental health training, and a faith-based, body image training.

A Glimpse Into My World: Outside the therapy room, you can find me mom’ing having a picnic at a park with my daughters, cheering on KU with my husband and friends, and enjoying it all with my phone “Bricked” on do not disturb.
