How We Started! Hello! I am Lux’s founder and one of our Catholic therapists. Lux’s story started during a six month mission trip to a Zambian orphanage, where I saw the deep impact of trauma in the young women I worked with. Seeing how a lack of love and safety so negatively shaped the way these incredible women saw themselves and the world stirred early questions in me—questions God would later use to guide the beginnings of Lux.

After returning from Zambia, I wrestled with the realities of tragedy, healing, and where God meets us in the midst of suffering. I began seeking a deeper understanding of how faith and psychology could work together to create spaces where healing is possible—places where we can be vulnerable, where joy and safety can re-emerge, and where hope can be held for someone even when they can’t see it for themselves.

Formation: My formal training began with a bachelors in Psychology from Benedictine College, followed by a Master of Science in Counseling from Emporia State University. Through my education, ongoing mentorship, and my own experience as a client in therapy, I’ve witnessed the transformative power of being truly seen and supported—of having someone sit with you, unhurried, to understand your unique story and integrate care that benefits your mind, body, and soul.

It changed my life to do my own inner work – to befriend and rework my thoughts, experience healing from past wounds, and learn practical tools to navigate life’s stressors. This transformation opened my eyes—not only to what was possible in my own healing, but to the deep need within our community for this kind of support and care to be available. This inspired the development of a team of skilled, Catholic therapists who share a commitment to providing care that mirrors each of our clients' inherent dignity and worth. Feeling truly cared for and walked alongside is what I hope you encounter here at Lux.

Value Based Therapeutic Approach: In sessions, I integrate a variety of modalities through a value-centered lens, drawing from REBT, CBT, IFS, ACT, and IB-CBT. Our team’s therapeutic approaches are shaped with intentionality, guided by the needs of our clients. Each of our therapists strives to show up with integrity, clinical creativity, and genuine care for the person in front of them, each offering support through her own unique style and personality. We are committed to ongoing professional growth, continually pursuing high-quality training and mentorship to ensure we provide the best possible care we can for our clients. Recently, this has included somatic and nervous system regulation training, ongoing perinatal mental health education, a book study on perfectionism, and a body image healing training workshop.

A glimpse into my world: Outside the therapy room, you can find me mom’ing having a picnic at a park with my daughters, cheering on KU with my husband and friends, and enjoying it all with my phone “Bricked” on do not disturb.

Want to connect directly with Frances?

In a world where so many interactions feel automated or transactional, Frances is the genuine, warm, and inviting presence replying to your inquiries. She is passionate about making sure you are taken care of and matched with a therapist who is an amazing fit for you after you take the vulnerable step of submitting our form.

When asked why it is important to Frances to help potential clients get connected to the best-fit therapists she said:

“My biggest hope is to ensure you know we hear your concerns as we set you up for a fruitful and quality relationship with therapy. Part of that means matching you with someone truly qualified for whatever brought you here. But it also means that when you see a calendar reminder for your upcoming appointment, you can feel a sense of relief knowing you were placed with your therapist intentionally and that you’re meeting with someone who will meet you exactly where you are.”

What she wants you to know if you feel hesitant about inquiring:

“I just hope anyone who reaches out knows that when I receive inquiries, I have absolutely no judgment whatever you may be going through. It is a joy and a privilege to know someone trusts us enough to help find the tools they need to begin healing. I also want to be that cheerleader for you, reminding you that while we are absolutely here to guide, you are the one putting in the work, so you are the real MVP!”

A Glimpse Into Her World: Outside of replying to your emails and inquiries, Frances can be found with her sons chasing sunshine, dreaming about country living, and interior design.
